It's been a while since I posted anything here... I ran into a bit of a technical issue with the site - the email address I used to create the Flickr account went away when I retired, and I haven't been able to make any changes/updates since... so no new picture to post... yet. I will be setting up a new account to host the pics and will redo and update the photos.
Since December of 2013 we've been pretty busy with some of the additional work that was needed. During the summer of 2014 we have an addition put on to the back of the house that included a 16 X 20 Sun Room, a concrete patio, and a deck (for the hot tub). That consumed most of the summer. Still have a bit of finish work to do in the Sun Room....
That fall (2014) we began working and prepping for the guest bathroom, kitchen, and master bath projects. We hired someone to come in and do the guest bath for us and that was finished in February 2015. We also ordered our kitchen cabinets at that time and completed prepping the kitchen for when they arrived. We finished installing the kitchen cabinets in May 2015 ... Connie FINALLY has a kitchen!!! Pictures of all these projects will be posted in the next few weeks... Some of the challenges during these projects included hanging the drywall on the ceiling, setting the cabinets in place, planning for the plumbing, and installing the quartz counter tops (we enlisted friends and family to help hoist those heavy pieces in place).
It is now fall (2015) and we have been cutting wood in preparation for the winter and working on other outdoor projects we wanted to complete before cold weather sends us inside. We are waiting for our concrete contractor to schedule some indoor work - leveling the concrete floor - so we can install the hardwood flooring throughout the kitchen and living room. We also would like to have them expand the patio they installed last year... a result of an afterthought and poor planning on my part.... We also hope to get the master bath finished over the winter...
The "Old Farmer's Almanac" is predicting a colder and wetter winter than normal... so we will soon be hunkered down, enjoying hot coffee, hot chocolate, and football beside the wood stoves. While we do miss some of the benefits of having lived in North Carolina, we do enjoy being close to family and being able to work on the various projects that allow us to shape it into something we and others can enjoy. We even enjoy the snow in winter - knowing we can head south for a brief vacation if we need a break from it!
